In Pursuit of One’s Passions
The greatest challenge

In 1987, Anna Matscher decided to make a change in her life. A masseuse by profession, she decided to dedicate herself to her true desire: a love for cooking. Together with her husband Alois, then a bank employee, the couple took over the family farm in Tisens. After several cooking courses and internships with the most prestigious chefs, it took Anna just 10 years to gain a high level reputation in local culinary circles. Meanwhile, Alois started learning about the world of wine and fast become an expert sommelier. His daughter, Elisabeth, has since followed in his footsteps with true professionalism.

Anna confides: "The source of my ingredients is most important to me. I look for ingredients that meet my quality standards and this brought me into contact with local farmers and suppliers. Traceability and transparency are fundamental to my work”. The herbs Anna uses in her recipes are collected from the magnificent garden at her property in Tisens.

The appreciation of good food takes absolute precedence at the Zum Löwen Restaurant in Tisens. This happens day after day thanks to the passion and commitment of those who work there.

Every dish is a work of
art of where quality and
freshness are exalted.
Besides the enjoyment
of good food, my
guests should also
feel at ease.

The Twen menu

We have a special menu for our YOUNG LION GOURMETS. Devised for guests under 25 years old, this appetising menu teases the palate and stimulates the taste buds. It’s a perfect gift or a romantic dinner for two, for those celebrating a birthday, those in love and all foodies in general. Four courses are chosen from the menu. Cost? The age of the guests multiplied by 2.

The MENU FOR YOUNG LIONS can be booked in advance or it can be a gift voucher. Call us on 0473 920927 to make your reservation. We regret that 31 December, Valentine's Day and public holidays are excluded from our offer.

Luis and Elisabeth Matscher gladly share their passion for wine with each client.

LUIS, the master of the Löwen wine cellar

"Wine selection takes some research and each day I try to discover the best wines for our restaurant. My curiosity brings me into contact with young winemakers and their innovations".

ELISABETH, the next generation at the Löwen

"Finding the wine that pairs perfectly with each dish is an art in itself. It means fully living the moment while enjoying a meal".

In the Löwen wine cellar thousands bottles are proudly displayed, with most of the labels originating from South Tyrol, Italy and France
