Life is full of surprises ...
And it often goes its own way. In my case it was a detour via Vienna, where as an 18-year-old I trained to be a masseuse, which led me to my actual passion. Cooking is much more than just a job for me. Instead it is a calling. A passion that began with my mother in the cradle and that I have perfected over many years of learning and experimentation.
I share my passion for good food and good wine with my husband. My husband, who many years ago switched from being a banker to a sommelier, our daughter Elisabeth, who is responsible for service in the restaurant, and I have transformed what was once the village inn “Zum Löwen” in Tisens into a Michelin starred restaurant.
The recipe for success? Hard work, stamina and passion. For sustainable cooking. For fresh ingredients. For herbs from my colourful garden. For honest, regional cuisine. With a glimpse beyond our near horizons and a desire to provide our guests with culinary delights.

Culinary magic
And what can you expect from the Restaurant Zum Löwen? A Michelin-star-level cuisine that combines regional produce with international influences. Inspired by the seasons. By high quality ingredients from the region. By herbs that flourish in the garden at the front of the building. Down-to-earth yet sophisticated dishes. Prepared with imagination by Anna Matscher and her experienced team in the kitchen.
Fancy a taster? Our delicious Löwen cuisine is available à la carte and we also offer a tasting menu.

Enjoyment is a family affair
Our Restaurant Zum Löwen in Tisens is a real family business. Everyone contributes the thing that they are best at and enjoy the most, with Anna in the kitchen, her husband Luis in the wine cellar and daughter Elisabeth in service. You can taste the passion. On the plate and in the glass. The fine, freshly prepared meals are combined with high-quality, carefully selected wines.
And incidentally, this passion and care are reflected in the atmosphere. Old and modern combine at the Löwen in highly successful fashion. Be it in the restaurant, the Löwensaal or the conservatory, there’s a favourite spot here for everyone where they can enjoy truly special gourmet moments. Come in and take a seat!
